The Larry Krause Collection

Larry Krause was the kind of person who never lost his sense of wonder. For more than thirty years he traveled the East Coast as a mineral dealer, and everyone who crossed his path came away with a story, a smile, and quite often a beautiful stone tucked into their pocket. Minerals weren't just his trade — they were his joy, and he loved nothing more than sharing that joy with anyone who'd listen.

He had an eye for the extraordinary and a gift for making people feel it too. Ask Larry about a piece of Malachite or a cluster of Fluorite and you'd get far more than a price — you'd get its history, where it came from, and why it mattered. His enthusiasm was contagious, and it turned countless curious visitors into lifelong collectors.

In June of 2014, High Ho Gems had the honor of welcoming Larry's personal collection — approximately 3,500 raw mineral specimens gathered lovingly over his remarkable career. Malachite, Azurite, Fluorite, Quartz, Hematite, Pyrite and so many more, each one untouched and full of character, exactly the way Larry cherished them.

Today his collection lives on — in the hands of new collectors, in our displays, and in the personal collections of the High Ho Gems family.
